- Backwardscopy. Tag and explanation placed at talk page. Such a good thing we investigated, anyway, as I discovered sneaky vandalism from April 2012 that had not been detected. :/ --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:37, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

- Atlanta Rhythm Section (history · last edit) from [1] Was copy/pasted almost four years ago from the band's website, but probably has not undergone enough change to be considered acceptable. - List of accolades received by Pavitra Rishta (history · last edit). The page was originally posted by User:Amoli Dave, a sockpuppet of a serial copyright violator, who apparently copied and pasted text from another Wikipedia article and then modified it slightly. The copied text is, of course, CC-BY-SA/GFDL but is not credited in the manner required by the license. The entire article was then speedily deleted by an administrator who was nuking all contributions from the sockpuppet. Today a new user, User:Twinkle Gupta, recreated the article in much the same form as when it was deleted. This has compounded the problem, because now not only are the original plagiarized Wikipedians not properly credited, but neither is User:Amoli Dave or any of the other contributors who subsequently modified the text. If this page is to be kept we need an administrator to retrieve the deleted version's contribution history so that proper credit can be left on the talk page. —Psychonaut (talk) 19:44, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

- Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli (history · last edit) from http://www.india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=2673116. This one may be a bit tricky to sort out. The plot summary in the Wikipedia article is currently the same as in the forum post I linked to. The Wikipedia article predates the forum post, but both of them have been continually updated since their respective creations, so there must have been continuous copying between them in one or both directions. However, it's important to note that the user responsible for adding the material to Wikipedia is a serial copyright violator who uses sockpuppet after sockpuppet to add infringing material to Wikipedia; it's therefore more likely that at least some (and probably most) of the Wikipedia text was still copied from the forum post. Or alternatively all of the material may ultimately come from a third source independent of the forum post. Psychonaut (talk) 20:04, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

As Psychonaut says, it is difficult to pin down exactly what content originated where, but there is sufficient evidence that at least a significant part of the content was copied to Wikipedia from more than one other source. JamesBWatson (talk) 09:44, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

- Article cleaned by investigator or others. No remaining infringement. Unfortunately, this contributor used copyrighted materials as the base of the article, which interspersed it throughout. I kept what seemed clearly original - spot-checking - and removed suspect content. Rev deleted because of repeated restoration of material by shifting IP. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:57, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

- University of Washington Educational Outreach (history · last edit · rewrite) from http://www.outreach.washington.edu/uweo/yir2011.pdf. In response to this edit, where the summary says, "Copyright message appears on UW Educational Outreach homepage but not on flagged PDF. If PDF meets criteria of UW PO Exec Order 36 as copyrighted material, fair use rules would apply for Wikipedia" in reference to this university policy. http://www.outreach.washington.edu/uweo/ says "© 2012 University of Washington. All rights reserved." Per Wikipedia:Copy-paste, commons sense would suggest this copyright notice applies to the PDF published at outreach.washington.edu/uweo/ . There's no compelling reason why we would try so hard to convince ourselves that this text is public domain, given that the resulting article violates WP:NPOV, WP:ARTSPAM and WP:PEACOCK.
